Arnold Levy's tax return
When Arnold Levy ran for Democratic Committeeman in Chicago’s 48th Ward in 1980, he sought to call attention to his unsavory opponent, incumbent Martin Tuchow (who was later jailed for shaking down rehabbers).
While speaking to a friendly audience of voters, Levy offered to make his tax returns public.
“Nah, you don’t want to do that,” attendees advised. They considered tax information to be private.
