Bi-partisan corruption

Democrats were not the only corrupt politicians in the Chicago City Council.

In 1973, Southwest side Republican Aldermen Casimir Staszcuk (13th) and Joseph Potempa (23rd) were convicted of accepting bribes in zoning cases. They engaged in the same practice as many of their Democratic counterparts.

And the U.S. Attorney who nailed them was future Republican Governor Jim Thompson.
