Chicago police fitness test

Chicago police were required to complete periodic fitness tests during the 90s. One part of the test consisted of a one-and-a-half mile run that had to be done in 14 minutes. Most people who ran regularly – even if they were slow runners – could do that.

But many police officers didn’t run at all and knew they would not be able to meet that requirement.

So, a few called the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) and asked if there was some sort of pill they could take to help them pass the test.
