Give 'em a street

Following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., many American cities renamed streets in Black neighborhoods in honor of the fallen civil rights leader. Chicago chose South Parkway for its tribute, a wide boulevard that traversed much of the predominantly Black south side, hoping the change in nomenclature would demonstrate that city leaders really cared about the city’s Black residents.
