Politics hasn't changed

Yes, a lot of the players are different, but there are some who have been around a long time. And, yes, the technological tools to track legislation and to communicate with voters has changed.

But the reasons people get involved hasn’t. It's still about public interest versus private interest. People are in politics either to help their communities or to help themselves.

Those who seek to help themselves will adapt to all sorts of changes in rules, regulations, laws, and technology. The political landscape may change but their priorities won’t.

So, knowing how things happened in the past will help to understand how things are happening now and how they are likely to happen in the future.
