Tearing down signs

An energetic fellow tore down a lot of signs that had been taped, tied, or pasted onto lamp posts in several north side wards during the 1970s. He tore down everything - political signs, yard sale announcements, even pictures of missing cats. He said it was illegal to post anything there. And it was bad for the environment.

But when Scott and I tore down election posters on Devon Avenue, a police officer told us to stop. So, we waited a couple of days and then resumed our activity, careful to avoid the cops and the guy who tore down signs.
