31st Ward Alderman Adeline Keane, wife of jailed former Alderman Tom Keane, earned a place in Chicago political history for her suggestion that teaching Latin in schools would help improve relations with Latinos.

But that wasn’t her only insensitive gaffe.

While sitting next to 48th Ward Alderman Marion Volini during a City Council Finance Committee meeting in 1978, she pointed to one of the Black Aldermen and said, “I’ve been here for more than three years and I still can’t tell them all apart.”
