Berny Stone's mobile office

Shortly after taking office as 50th Ward Alderman in 1973, Bernard Stone outfitted an RV as his Aldermanic office, so he wouldn’t have to work from the Democratic Party headquarters of Committeeman Jerome Huppert, whom he intended to challenge in an upcoming election.

He parked it at various locations in the ward, claiming it made him more accessible to neighborhood residents.

He only used it for a short time, though. Maybe it had served its public relations usefulness by then.
