Natarus and Marion Volini
When 48th Ward Alderman Marion Volini prepared to introduce a resolution calling upon the Chicago Housing Authority to improve security in its senior citizen buildings, she asked a few of her fellow Aldermen to sign as co-sponsors.
42nd Ward Alderman Burton Natarus said he’d think about it. He asked her for a copy of the draft resolution.
At the next City Council meeting, he introduced it himself. He didn’t even bother to retype it. It was on the exact piece of paper Volini had given him, with “42nd” handwritten over “48th” and with her name removed and replaced by his.
It passed.
