The fate of a third party candidate

Green Party candidate Nadine Bopp was endorsed by the Chicago Tribune in her 2008 race for a seat on the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. It was the first time I could remember the Trib endorsing a third party candidate.

She lost by a huge, huge margin.

She was very well-qualified and might have had a chance running in the Democratic primary, instead. But she didn’t do that.

She was the Green Party candidate again in 2010 and lost again. And she didn’t get the Trib’s endorsement that time.
