Vote count custom in Bridgeport

A Bridgeport resident volunteered on the north side in Bill Singer’s 1975 challenge to Mayor Daley. He left his post mid-day, though, to travel back to the 11th Ward to vote. He said he didn’t want to cast an absentee ballot because he knew that if a ballot was marked for Singer, the election judges in his home precinct would check to see who had voted that way and he wanted to preserve the secrecy of his choice.
